Mushroom Forays:
Sierra Morel ForaysFall Coastal ForaysWinter Forays
Sonoma Coast Porcini foray.
This guided foray will show you where and when to look for wild mushrooms which can be prolific in conifer forest areas during the Fall after the first rains.
Experienced foray leader Mikhael Crystallah-Selk will guide the group to coastal forest locations to forage for these delicious mushrooms.
We start at the Jenner Visitors Center at 9:45am. From there, the foray leader will lead the group (in your own cars) to various locations in the Sonoma Coastal Forests. Be prepared for moderate hiking, cool weather, and possible rain. And bring a mushroom basket!
We cannot guarantee you'll find wild mushrooms, but we give you all the information you need to find them, and recommended resources for mushroom identification.
We also highly recommend downloading a GPS app on your phone like GAIA or AllTrails to track your location in the forest, so you don't get lost or turned around. Other useful apps like iNaturalist can help you identify mushrooms and plants you may find.
